It is one of the most picturesque islands in the whole of Argosaronikos, just a few meters away from Peloponnese. The only thing that’s standing between them is a narrow strip of saltwater. The landscape - truly reminiscent of lagoons - is very peaceful and it harmoniously combines the blue of the sea with the green-tinged shores. It is the best tranquilizer for all the stressed-out Athenians who visit Poros on weekends, especially in the summer. The island owes its contemporary shape to the volcanic history of the area. In reality, Poros is a complex of two separate islands, Kalavria and Sfera. The first one is brimming with pine-trees and combines magical bays, rocky shores and sandy beaches. The second one is a piece of land that appeared after the volcano of Methana erupted in 273 B.C. |
