It has about 1200 residents and it is the capital city of the island, as well as its port.

The beautiful city of Gaios (named after one of Apostle Paul’s students who spend his life preaching there) is built according to the traditional architecture of the Eptanisa. Across the southwestern shores of this island, just before the mouth of the bay, you will discover two tiny, brilliantly green islands full of pine trees, called Agios Nikolaos and Panagia.
