The village of Prinos counts about 1.500 inhabitants. You find Prinos nothwest from Thassos (60 km away). Prinos is very important since the discovery of oil. Skala Prinou is after Limenas the most important harbour of Thassos.

Here you can take the boat to the main land, to the town of Kavalla and to Keramoti. Prinos is the biggest village of the western part of Thassos and is the most economically powerful, due to the discovery of oil and the installation of oil rings in the sea near the village. It is a big village with a dense population and is the commercial and cultural centre of the area.
