| Ano Meria |

The largest village in population on Myconos.
Comprised of small neighbourhoods spread out over the central part of the island. Cretan emigrants from the island of Folgandros established the town in 1577 Ad. This is validated by the names of the locals. The white washed houses, the churches with the red domes, and windmills, all comprise a uniquely graphic scene. Ano Meria developed as a tourist attraction in recent years, mainly due to its serene surroundings and its ease in connecting tourists to the pretty beaches located nearby. It is serviced with frequent and regular public transportation. |

| Worth seeing |
•The male monastery of the Panagia Tourlianis has a church with the same name. The monks of Paros built it in 16th Century Ad. It owes its present day form to the restoration of 1767 when the basic structures were put in place and art works decorated its interior walls. Admire the wood carving from Florence (1775 Ad) and the gold plated temple. The outfitting of the bell tower is also special. The monastery houses a small working museum with important ecclesiastical artifact. •The monastery of Paliocastro, located on the top of the hill where remnants of a medieval castle (one of two found on the island) can be seen. |

| Where to swim |
•The village has access to most of the beaches of the island via the frequent public transport that services the island, i.e. Ftelia, Lia, Calafatis, Kalo Livadi. •The Watermania Water Park is only 2km from Ano Meria and even though the beach is very pretty and the water crystal clear, it is the pools and waterslides that grab all the attention. Many shops have opened in the 15 acres the Water Park covers. |
