The eternal reign of sea and sun…

The island complex of Cyclades is a magical destination, perfect for those who want to escape the monotony of everyday life. The Cyclades form a heavenly circle of delight with the sacred island of Delos right in the middle. This island complex was first inhabited by the Leleges and the Kares and during the Dorian invasion it was populated by the persecuted Ions. The Cycladic civilization flourished greatly during the historical times and every island became a separate dominion.
The Cycladic islands - traditional allies of Athens with very few exceptions siding with the Spartans - fell under the rule of Phillip B´ of Macedonia after the battle of Chaironeia was lost. The descendants of Alexander the Great were succeeded by the Romans, while Christianity became increasingly popular in 2nd century A.D. The Byzantine Empire was subjected to numerous raids by the Goths, the Slavs and the Saracens and the sacking of Constantinople in 1204 A.D. resulted in the domination of the Franks. In late 16th century the Cyclades were taken over by the Turks, but they managed to have a very strong hold over the islands.
