Lipsi (capital)

The capital of the island counts about 600 permanent resdients and it is its main port. The place is ideal for those who prefer tranquil holidays, beautiful sandy beaches and translucent waters.The only settlement of the island was founded by Lios from Crete. The people live off of fishing, cattle-breeding and agriculture. The region is well known for the exquisite quality of its wines.
It is worth visiting/seeing:

Worth seeing

• The church of Agios Ioannis the Divine, the building of which was financed by two Lipsian immigrants. It was built in stone and houses two magnificent icons of Panagia tou Harou and Panagia tis Mavris.
• The Church of Panagia tou Harou, close to Hochlakoura bay.
• Do not neglect to visit the Castle and the Ecclesiastical-Folklore Museum with an archaeological collection of various finds.

Where to swim

• Some magnificent beaches are at Liendou, Katsadia, Hochlakoura, Monodendri and Platys Gialos.
