It is a littoral town that counts about 5000 people, it lies at the western part of the Prefecture, 70km north-west of Kalamata.

 Kyparissia is the rustic and trading center of Trifilia`s area and it is surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. Above the traditional settlement of old town of Arkadia, there is a medieval castle that was erected by the Byzantines, renewed by Franks and extendxed by the Turns and the Venitians. The area prospered during the Mycenean period as well as during the 4th century when the town was fortified by Epaminondas.
