Schinousa, has 150 residents and is the capital of the island.

Most of the tourists gather in Schinousa, also referred to as Panagia, after the church of the Panagia Akathis that has a rare icon of the Virgin from the Canticle.
The lillipudlian town of Masaria can be reached on foot (one and a half hours) or on donkey. There one can discover the ruins of a fortress from the Middle Ages. It is thought that the residents originated from Amorgos.
