| Vathi (Capital) |
It has about 2000 residents and it is the capital, as well as the port, of the island.
It is very possible that Ithaca’s capital was the ancient port of Forkis, where Ulysses disembarked after his adventurous journey. The town was seriously damaged in the 1953 earthquake, but it was built anew, preserving the same style and architecture.
