It is the second most important palace in Crete, covering an area of 8500 sq. m, 60km away from Heraklion.
It belonged to Minos Rodamanthis’ brother and it has been almost entirely excavated by Italian archaeologists. This is where they discovered the renowned disk of Festos with the hieroglyphic script, now on exhibit in the Museum of Heraklion. The palatial mansion of Agia Triada (Holy Triad) is not far off. |
