A butterfly in the Aegean Sea….

Its whitewashed houses stretching from the top of the hill to its foot make the island seem like a painting. The island, as its white houses surround the walls of the castle, on the top of the hill, and descend the slope till the seashore offers a fine spectacle. The traveler wonders whether it is an island of the Cyclades since it has a more cycladic character than Dodecanesean where it belongs to. Astylalea is the bridge that connects the Cyclades to the Dodecanese. If you hear talking about the "inner island" and the "outer island" don't be surprised.
