Monemvassia, the Byzantine and Venetian jewel of the eastern coast of the Peloponnese, is 26 klm. far from Molaο. Monemvasia occupies a steep, rocky islet connected to the Laconian coast only by a narrow causeway. From the mainland the rock appears uninhabited.
