Aperi is situated at an altitude of 320 m., on the slope of Mount Hamali, in a green area. A noble village with tremendous cultural growth, it used to be the old capital of Karpathos, now serving us the home-base for the Archbishop of Karpathos and Kassos. "Apergi" in Turkish language means "the capital". South-east of the village, there are the mountainous villages of Volada, Othos and Pyles with their magnificent view. The Folklore Museum of Karpathos is located in the attractive villagre of Othos. |

| Where to swim |
• The closest beach is the beach of Kyra Panagia (north-east of the village), one of the best beaches of the island. It's a beach with pebbles and thin sand.
