It counts about 10.000 permanent residents; it lies to the south-east of the Prefecture and is 12 km from Salonica.

Beautiful villas nestled on the covered with green slopes of Chortiatis, constitute this small town of Salonica. From the top of the hill, the view of the town is panoramic. A short distance away is Platanakia, miniature of a valley covered with plane-trees while there are abundant waters. After 4km way one can reach the mountain shelter, situated to the back of Chortiatis. Going to the south, Thermi is built on the site of the ancient city and is known for the alkaline mineral water springs.
