Town on the southeast side of the island with few residents, and located 19 km from Hora.
The town took its name from the church of the same name, Panagia Kanala, also known as the protector of the island. Many people come to the island just to pray in her presence. The significance of the church is that it respectfully shelters the miraculous icon of the Panagia, found in a canal close to where it is famed, the evangelist Luke worked. The town has the privilege of being surrounded with pine trees and greenery. The town has many lodgings, pretty tavernas, restaurants, and cafes. Close to the shallow beach in town, you can also discover the beaches of Kalo Livadi and Antonides, either by boat or on foot. |
