With approximately 100 residents, it lies north of the island, approximately 33km from the city.
The north has its own interesting sites not to be overlooked. Just when you think that you have seen all that Naxos has to offer by coast or inland, you will end up at the village of Apollona. Certainly every village that you will come past holds an open invitation. Green and seductive, you are invited to end your journey at the seaside village of Apollona. Once there, the beautiful shores that embrace one of the most beautiful villages on the island will astound you. You will be further surprised once you come across ruins two and a half thousand years old. The most ancient Kouros of Apollona, incomplete, lying stoically on the ground waiting for the moment when it will be removed from its marble block - a moment that perhaps will never come. |

| Worth seeing |
•The huge Kouros of Apollona, 11 metres in length, at Kastraki. It forms an incomplete creation of the Archaic – Geometric period (7th – 6th centuries BC). •The old marble quarries, near the ‘Castle of Kalogirou’, known from antiquity, as it believed that many of the marble statues of Delos were made here. The quarries are found on the mount of Empoli or Ampoli, as the locals call it. •The old monastery of Panagia, at the ghost town of Agias. •Do not overlook the marvelous sculptures of ‘Rokou’ at Abrami. |

| Where to swim |
•Swim at the large beach in town. •Swim at all the northwestern beaches of the island that you will meet on the way to Apollona, by coast (Pahia Ammos, Agios Mammas, Abrami, etc). It would be preferable for you to enjoy these beaches on days without wind, due to the waves. |
