With 350 residents approx, it lies west on the island, 8km from the city.
It is not by chance that the Venetian Markos Sanoudos chose this site for his country house. Judging from the ancient ruins found here such as the incomplete Kouros, 7th century BC, this was a well-known site even from antiquity. The village is built in one of the greenest valleys of the island. Its running waters are so vigorous, that in the past they had developed mills powered by the movement of water (most being watermills). Today, the past traditions and beauty of the site make your visit a must. |
