Gastouri

It has about 500 residents, and you will find it on the southeastern part of the island, 12 km away from the city.

It is a traditional style village, north of Kerkyra city, attracting thousands of visitors every year, who come to admire the royal mansion of the Empress Elizabeth of Austria, otherwise known as Sissy. You can get there by way of the coastal Kerkyra-Lefkimi bypass.

Worth seeing

•The Achilleio, a royal mansion designed by the Italian architect Cardita in 1890 for the Empress Elizabeth of Austria. In 1907 the Achilleio was bought by the Emperor of Germany, William II. The mansion has very beautiful gardens and lots of balconies, as well as a large collection of statues. Among others, you can admire the famous statue of Achilles, which has become the trade mark of the royal resort and proves how much Elizabeth admired the mythical hero. This world renowned mansion has become an important tourist asset for the island.
