Gythion is the largest town in the Mani with 5000 permanent residents and lies 42 klm. to the south of Sparta.

Gythion is a pleasure to wander through with its lovely square, its two-storeyed  houses and its port that was at the peak of its power during Minoan period and is built south to its previous site (there are ruins of the ancient town dated on the Roman times).
