Molaï have about 3000 permanent residents and lie 75 klm. to the south of Sparta.

The small market town of Molaï (the ancient city of Leuke), is the first stop of the peninsula's tour that ends at the Cape Maleas, 73 klm. to the south-east of Sparta; Molaï is the rural centre of the eastern part of Laconia. Molaï were famous for the watermills in an area that has a luxuriant vegetation,  plane-trees and lots of waters. Elia that is the seaport of Molaï (9 klm. to the south-west) as well as the seaside settlement of Plytra (12 klm. to the south of Elia) offer lovely beaches for swimming and a developing tourist infrastructure.
