It has about 5.000 residents and it is located on the east side of the island, 4km away from the capital.
The road leading from Chios to Vrontados is studded with small beaches and serene little harbors, which make for a very pleasant ride. Vrontados, a supposed “suburb” of the main city, is brimming with brilliantly green vegetation, it has a strong tradition in sea-faring and a very well-organized beach. It is famous for its Easter tradition of hand-made bengals that light up the sky at the same time every year. |
