It has about 2.000 residents and it is located on the northeastern side of the island, 27km away from the city.
Kardamila consists of two settlements, Pano Kardamila, built in traditional architectural style over the ancient city of Kardamili, and Kato Kardamila a.k.a. Marmaro, full of manor-houses built right on the beachfront. It is the birthplace of many a wealthy ship-owners and seamen, just like the tiny island of Inusses. Kardamila played a very important part in the 1821 revolution, putting up a big fight against the Turks.
