It has about 700 residents and it is located on the northwestern side of the prefecture, 17km away from Chania.
It is a popular coastal village with a well-developed tourist infrastructure. This is where the airport was located before the war and it is closely associated the victorious Battle of Crete in 1941. Tavronitis village is built on the shore of the homonymous river. |
