It has about 200 residents and it is located on the south side of the prefecture, 65km away from Chania.
It is a coastal village with a quiet little harbor and a long beach. Traces of the roman Siia are still evident. The village church boasts a fantastic mosaic with representations of peacocks and deer belonging to an old 6th century basilica. A visit to the ancient Lisos is mandatory. The little Dorian temple of Asklipios (Aesculapius), the theater and the tombs stand out in the midst of an idyllic landscape brimming with luscious vegetation. |
