The most valuable gem on the island is Naousa. At this graphic seaside town, the blindingly white houses blend immaculately with the blue of the sky and the sea. Fishing boats bobbing and swaying, nonchalantly on the water, forming a lacelike perimeter of the traditional houses that approach the sea. Walking through the narrow laneways, you are transported into a dreamlike atmosphere of a significant historic past. In recent years, Naousa has developed into an important tourist destination. |

| Worth seeing |
•The monasteries of Agios Yiorgos, Agios Athanasios the Evangelismos and Agios Yiannis - each worth visiting for the frescoes from the 18th century AD. The monastery of the Panagia Pandanassa and Agia Paraskevi are built at the highest point of Naousa. On the outskirts of town is the monastery of Agios Andrea (1648 AD), which is private property. •Worth a visit is the Byzantine Museum housed within the church of Agios Nicholas Mostratos. The museum displays works by Parian and Cretan artists. •The ‘Paleopyrgo’, old tower located near the town of Naousa, built in the classic years, which is thought to be the capital of ancient Paros. •The ruins of the Venetian Castle located at rhe entrance of the small port, built in the 15th century AD by the Lord Somaripa. •The most significant Mycaenean castle in the Cyclades was discovered at the bay southwest of Naousa, dating back to the beginning of the 13th century BC. •There are abandoned windmills scattered around the north east of Naousa. •Visit the Kolymbithres, rock pools at the west side of the bay of Naousa. One of nature’s peculiarities, a landscape with various rock faces offering a one in a million view. Time has altered the rock into shapes that remind us of sculptures and small bays with beaches that seem to embrace each other.
