Kalithea has about 500 inhabitants and it is to the north - east of Kassandra peninsula.
It is on the junction where the tour of Kassandra starts and ends to. It was founded in 1922 by refugees from Asia Minor on the site of the sanctuary of Ammon Zeus. It probably owes its name to the magnificent view from its square. Today, it is the most cosmopolitan holiday resort on the peninsula of Kassandra. The sanctuary of Ammon Zeus, of which parts of the temple and the area of the altar have been excavated, is worth visiting. |
