It has about 2500 residents and it is located in the heart of the island, 40km away from Mytilini.

It owes its name to the little church of Agia Paraskevi that was built inside a cave. It’s a beautiful provincial town with characteristic island architecture and several traditional buildings. It’s well known for its local traditions and the bull-sacrificing (tavrothysia) festival that originates in the ancient times.
